Honest Work

This week.. I am crating and sending off my new encaustic and ink paintings from my Honest Work series to the Water Street Gallery in Douglas Michigan for the May 5 opening, Raising Eyebrows.

During April I have been working on several new paintings for upcoming invitational shows opening later this spring and summer in Denver. Details on those shows soon.

I would like to share with you a column from ArtBiz Insider, the online newsletter, written by Alyson B. Stanfield, owner of art biz coach, sent today.

Thanks Alyson! I do enjoy talking about my work.

I recently went gallery hopping on a Friday night with Stephanie, my 21-year-old cousin. We went to six galleries in different parts of town in under two hours. (I can fly!)

At the end of the night, I asked Stephanie which piece was her favorite.

Without hesitation, she said, “Probably Creme Puff.” She also knew why she liked the painting so much.

She liked it because Pat Aaron, the artist, was there to talk with her about it. Stephanie had never heard of encaustic and was fascinated to learn something new.

It’s important for you to be with your art as much as you can while it’s on exhibit. You’re the person who can make a connection for visitors.
