My latest sculpture, titled, AirBnB, is now on exhibit at Fiddler’s Green in Greenwood Village, CO. This work was commissioned by The Museum of Outdoor Arts for their year long, Sculpture on the Green program. It has all the elements I enjoy working with, layers of color, scale, humor, nature, graffiti, and public art. This work will be exhibited through April 30, 2018. The opening reception is scheduled for June 29 4:30-6 pm at 6363 S. Fiddler’s Green, Greenwood Village, CO 80111. Open to the public.
The beginnings of Airbnb, took hold when I made an initial site visit some months ago. This particular area of Greenwood Village off I-25 and Arapahoe is being highly developed with the construction of high-rise office buildings and construction equipment at every turn. I had a sense there was a large void of anything natural other than some new trees. I wondered where were all the birds? I decided the location needed a birdhouse, albeit, a whimsical and quite colorful one, to create a landing spot or perhaps nesting area.
