May 2016 - Reykjavik, Iceland Artist Fellowship/SIM
I never in my wildest dreams could have imagined the intensity of the landscape here in Iceland. This last month I have traveled throughout the island on numerous road trips solo and with other like-minded free spirits. It has been challenging at times but always worth the drive no matter the sand storms, death trap metal one- lane bridges, speeding up glaciers in a Super Jeep, you name it WOW! I have been posting new images on my Instagram account and Facebook over the course of the month.
In the studio I have tried to maintain my daily studio practice and painting in oil and ink on Arches oil paper. These small studies will be the jumping off point for larger encaustic works when I return to Denver in a few weeks. I am showing new work here in Iceland before I leave and then in October at SPACE Gallery in Denver, CO.
